Oh my gawd, do I love to do book tours. Even though a lot of readings are now more interviews on stage with my favorite book people (including some great authors for this one which I can’t yet divulge!), I also like to do 10-15 minute readings. And I practice so hard for them, it reminds me of the theatrical career I was too chicken to pursue. (Why I wasn’t a theater/creative writer major at Oberlin like everyone else is beyond me. Oh, right I was a poor immigrant and had to do pre-law.)
Now what you see above is just the first month of the tour, so there’s a lot more coming including West Coast and other Midwest appearances. Will I go to the South other than Texas? If the South invites me, I will!
Oh, and perhaps my favorite of these appearances is the Borscht Belt Festival in Ellenville, NY. Those who read my memoir Little Failure will know that I spent the happiest years of my life in a Russian bungalow colony near Ellenville, NY. To come back to this stretch of land (which is not far from where I live half the year across the river) is the ultimate homecoming.
Please come and see me on the road! I love to meet people and I’ll sign anything, including asthma inhalers and, in one case, a two-month old baby (I think it’s legal in Washington state). Oh, and like I said, more tour dates to come!!!!
Are you coming to Canada?
Don't cross the border of course if you think Trump will let you back in.
But if you are coming to Toronto, please announce. Wish to interview you for the Toronto Star. Canadians need you.
Would love you to join our presenting author lineup at the Collingswood Book Festival on Saturday, October 4!
