Two Restaurants I've Been Going to for Years And Probably Will Go to Until I Die
They both start with "H."
I’ve been going to these two places for what seems like decades and each time I leave I pat myself on the back and let out a satisfying burp.
First, I leave my funky abode and head south to Hasaki on 9th Street. Yeah, it’s been a part of the Little Tokyo style strip forever, but it has recently got a mod renovation and now feels more like disappearing into a minimalist Tokyo joint. Remember the black cod craze of the Nobu years? Well, Hasaki does an excellent black cod and pretty much every single thing no the menu is thoughtfully done. I used to come here on dates with my then-not-wife and I think it’s a sweet place for a date if you still feel like being romantic these days (though staying home and crying is always an option).
Next, I leave Casa Gary to head north to Curry Hill, for a place that will be very familiar to many.
