At the Premiere of The Guy Who Got Cut Wrong, the Thrilling Story of My Botched Circumcision
Have Schlong, Will Travel
Some of you might remember the New Yorker piece I wrote about all the trouble that has befallen my dick. If not, here’s a link: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/10/11/a-botched-circumcision-and-its-aftermath
Fun stuff! Well now, acclaimed director Dana Ben-Ari has brought the article to life with the documentary “The Guy Who Got Cut Wrong.” And this week saw the premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival.
The movie goes as deep as a mohel’s knife into its tender subject matter and seeing it on the big screen was riveting.
Some people who read the article wanted to see more of how I got cut wrong. The movie delivered big time! Not by having me drop my pants, but rather by having me provide some visual aids. Check out this sequence!
Oy vey, right?
And here’s me being given a bowl of cucumbers for more in-depth analysis.
No wonder I had to start the evening with a martini at Kingston’s beloved Hotel Kinsley.
The question and answer period was exceptional. We discussed the role of humor in talking about this very touchy subject and there was lots of wonderful empathy to go around. A local woman asked me: “How’s your pee-pee today?” and I gave her a blow-by-blow update. Overall, I find women to be a lot kinder about the subject of botched circumcisions and about male pain in general. God bless them, everyone one.
If you want to catch this doc, it will be playing at DocNYC on Nov 13 and 15, and hopefully it will find some kind of streaming home. After all, at a mere 21 minutes, it’s an, ahem, short.
Ouch. And you're a brave man. I've always believed anyone should have to be at least 18 ....or 21....for it to be Legal to have this surgery.
I remember years ago when a baby in or around Des Moines got circumcised and over the the next several days slowly bled out enough The baby boy died. If I recall the parents were not considered at fault....not sure about the medical people.
A one half of one percent chance you could die or have other serious complications doesn't sound like much.....but do that surgery One million times a year ......(I think at least a few people die every year from complications. I've seen where a botched surgery resulted in infant sex change to baby "girl" instead of boy all because of surgery complications. )
Let's see One Million Surgeries times one Half of one % equals......how many....???
Love it! You are truly khuy generis.
